News Corp Australia names Nandor Locher as Chief Digital and Technology Officer

Locher steps into the role as the media company sharpens its digital, data and product transformation agenda.
News Corp Australia has announced the appointment of Nandor Locher as its next Chief Digital and Technology Officer, marking a significant leadership shift as the company accelerates its technology and product transformation strategy. He takes over from Julian Delany, who recently moved into a global role as News Corp’s Chief Technology Officer, based in New York.
Locher joins at a pivotal moment for the company, with digital experience, platform modernisation and data-driven growth sitting firmly at the centre of its forward strategy. In his new role, he will oversee News Corp Australia’s technology, data and digital roadmap across three major priorities: elevating user experience, strengthening content and data capabilities, and shaping innovative solutions for commercial partners.
With more than two decades of experience across financial services, retail, loyalty, and aviation, Locher brings a background shaped by senior leadership roles at Qantas, Virgin Australia, Woolworths and IAG. His work across these organisations has included large-scale digital transformation, customer experience redesign, and the integration of emerging technologies into complex legacy systems.
Michael Miller, Executive Chairman of News Corp Australasia, said Locher’s deep experience in customer-centred digital transformation makes him “ideally placed to lead the next phase of our technology evolution.” He added that the company’s focus on product speed-to-market, AI-enabled workflows and improved platform performance aligns well with Locher’s strategic strengths.
Reflecting on his appointment, Locher said the convergence of media and technology represents “one of the most dynamic spaces in Australian business,” and that he looks forward to contributing to initiatives that enhance product personalisation and operational efficiency across the organisation.
Locher will formally step into the role in March 2026.
