The new integration aims to simplify cross-border payroll and support companies in Australia, New Zealand and the UK as they scale internationally.

BambooHR has moved to deepen its footprint in Australia and New Zealand through a new partnership with Xero Payroll, giving HR teams in the region a more seamless way to manage international payroll and employee data.

The Utah-based HR, payroll and benefits platform announced on Thursday that it has integrated its system with Xero Payroll, the cloud accounting provider headquartered in Wellington and widely used across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The collaboration is designed to remove one of the biggest operational burdens for HR teams—manually transferring employee information into country-specific payroll systems.

With the new integration, employee data added or updated in BambooHR will automatically sync into Xero Payroll, reducing errors, administrative hours and compliance risks for companies managing teams across multiple markets. BambooHR said the move reflects growing demand from clients who are expanding internationally and need a single, reliable system to keep workforce information aligned across geographies.

The partnership also comes at a time when more employers are hiring beyond their home country to keep up with talent shortages. BambooHR’s recent survey found that 79% of HR and business leaders remain optimistic about growth in 2025, with nearly four in ten already recruiting overseas and another 29% planning to enter new markets within a year. The findings echo separate ADP research showing that both mid-sized and large organisations are scaling their global workforce plans.

Brian Crofts, chief product officer at BambooHR, said the Xero integration strengthens the platform’s role as a “single source of truth” for employee data while helping businesses stay compliant in fast-changing global labour environments.

The announcement follows BambooHR’s November appointment of Adam Christensen to lead its global brand and marketing efforts, signalling continued investment in international expansion. Today, the company supports more than 30,000 customers across 190 countries.
